Deep Musings

Akihabara@DEEP episode 6 raises a good point: Otaku are scary. ...Otaku can be scary; that's a little more accurate. The potential is there for us to (1) withdraw too far from the real world, (2) become overly obsessed with our hobbies, and (3) become unable to distinguish between reality and fantasy. Combine these three and you get a secluded person with obsessive tendencies, unable to tell where his own thoughts and fantasies stop and reality begins. That's why it's important for us to maintain other things as well as fandom, so we don't lose our grip on what it really means to live in this world. Having a place to escape to can be a great thing, but never let it become more than an escape.

I think this is why I'm so love-hate about conventions. Cosplaying is awesomely fun, and I love poking around in dealers' rooms, but anime fans can creep me out sometimes.

Unrelated observation: For being a "clean freak" or whatever he is, Box is awfully touchy-feely. Pay attention to whose hands are on other people, and those hands are almost always the gloved ones. What's more, they're almost always on Page. Case in point. ) XD I love Toma.

I love Page, too. "Akira fights, Izumu can do hacking, Taiko can make music, I can design, even Daruma can make wonderful costumes. What have you done all this time?" "L-l-leader." XDD I also think it is uncommonly funny when someone imitates his stutter.

Was busy being sick today. Now that the midterm is over and stress level is going down, I expect to be back to full health tomorrow. ...Stress was not entirely due to the midterm, but also to the fact that I've not been sleeping well because that nuclear power plant accident that we learned about in Psychology has been bugging me. I hate it how things like that can work into my mind and take forever to go away. But that's behind me, now, too; we were supposed to read an article about it, which I conscientiously chose not to read, and we discussed it in class today, and that's that. Get out of my brain now plzkthx.

Oh, one more thing: one of my professors left our ungraded exams on a plane. XD If the airline can't/won't locate them by tomorrow, we're all getting 100%.

Is there some sort of genetic defect in boys, that they cannot tell their restroom from their backyard? Because there is a difference, let me assure you. >_>

Datacomm midterm tomorrow; eleven chapters of previously untested material in one exam. Fun.

Akihabara@DEEP is getting weird. Still good, though. Page and Box and Taiko think they're the Power Rangers. XD

...XD I was just reading about some amusing tech support calls on this site, when the phone rings. It's my aunt, calling at 10:30 at night, with this to say: "Hey, computer whiz. If I have a fourteen-page document and I just want to print one page, how do I do that?"

Ate lunch at First Watch today. Probably still my favorite restaurant ever. Then did grocery shopping and other necessary things, including the purchase of Yuugiou Millennium World 6 and Ouran Host Club 7. :D

Watching akihabara@DEEP episode 3 now. I've been impressed with this series so far, looking forward to the rest of it.

Hee. Watched Akihabara@DEEP Search 1, was amused and intrigued. I like Box-kun and Page-san already, but that's a given. XD I wonder how difficult it is to act as a character who has a stutter like Page's? Kazapon does a great job of it, though. I want to grab him by the shoulders and say "Slow down!!"

home nao. midterm break ftw. I'll definitely sleep fine here, because I said so.

Oh, and can I fly to Los Angeles, plzthx? o_o Anyone have a spare round-trip plane ticket?
