Well, that was pretty damn epic. ( 3-5 spoilers. )

So in the end, Phoenix was right. I didn't know all the details until the whole truth came out in court. I guess that's why we always have to press to find the truth: because we can never be sure what the truth is until all of the facts are brought to light. Just like in Yuugiou; it's never over until the last card is played. Heh. Two series with the same message.

Definitely as good as 2-4. Good in a different way, but just as good. Maybe even as awesome as 1-4, but that one's kinda hard to top.

*sigh* This game is failing to motivate me to press on and prove who the murderer is. Really, why do I want to prove that the killer did it? I know the killer's identity, and I know the motive, and... ( Okay, effort to write this without spoilers is phailing. )

If this is true, then Phoenix very obviously places both a high amount of value in the truth, and a high amount of faith in the legal system. The way I see his mind working here is, "As long as I can expose the full truth of what happened, the court will deal with it as it should rightfully be dealt with." ...I guess that's a pretty accurate reflection of how he thinks, considering his actions in all the other cases I've played. He really is a very optimistic person, isn't he?

If that's true, then the huge personality changes that he undergoes between the third and fourth games make a little more sense. Losing his badge must have utterly destroyed that faith in the court that he had, and while he still pursues the truth pretty singlemindedly, he does it with an air of relying on and trusting no one other than himself. Another good reason to reject AJ canon. >_> I hate it when canon makes my hopeful and optimistic characters into bitter and cynical ones. That doesn't always happen in real life, you know.

...Wow. The more I think about hobo-Phoenix in the context of this, the more sense he makes. Still doesn't mean I like him, though. <_<

Alright, I think I've talked myself into feeling better about this case. However, considering that it's 2am, I think I'll leave the rest of the case for tomorrow. >_>'

...I think I liked the second half of 2-4 better than the second half of this one. Probably because in 2-4, I got to flail at Edgeworth the whole time, going "I don't know what to do, help me DDD:" Which is pretty much what I did through the entire thing. ...He's somehow a calming presence to have around. ...I think Phoenix thinks so too, for the amount of times he did that "*almost passes out*" thing at him.

Hmm. I believe I know who the killer is. In fact, I've suspected for some time who the killer is, but I've just now worked out the motive, which makes me feel a lot better about the whole thing.

Gah. Okay, this case is cool, but it's somehow not quite measuring up to the epic-ness of 2-4. I mean, 2-4 was pretty awesome, particularly because it got so intense at the end. If this one's got a good climax, it'll definitely beat 2-4, but it's all gonna depend on the ending.

Oh, by the way, I graduated this morning. XD Then I packed up all my stuff and moved home. I'm finished with UD; won't get to walk around campus anymore. I don't think it's really sunk in yet. I feel like I'm just home on spring break or something, and I'll be packing up and going back in a few days.

I think I'm just on emotional burnout right now. Severe emotional burnout. :(

Okay, now Godot apparently has a blade fetish. Hmm. I still like him, though his somewhat could-be-construed-as-sexist comments to Franziska kinda irritated me a little. And I still hope that my theory about Larry's drawing is right. I want to be able to be proud of myself for figuring that out.

I have what I hope is a good idea for a set of short PW introspective-type fanfics, which are always fun to write. Seems like this fandom would be a good place for me to get back into writing, and I'm going to have some free time and a lot of emotion to spare over these next two weeks. We'll see what happens.

I was just sitting out on the porch, and I swear, there was a bird out there that was chirping exactly in time with my neighbors' music. o_O'

I've figured out what's been bothering me off and on these past few months: I've not been exercising my right brain enough. I'm pretty equal parts left and right brain, but I've been spending these past few years in school working hard on developing just the left. I never spend time on doing anything art-related anymore. Thus my right brain is feeling neglected and making me unhappy.

How can I remedy this? I bet I could pull off some fairly decent Phoenix Wright fanfiction; writing is probably still my strongest right-brain skill. Maybe I'll do that and post it.

Although I've been wondering... The quote that preceded this little gem of inner monologue went something like "It's probably just the fever talking, but..." If his fever causes him to think stuff like that after it's had a day to come down, I wonder what kinds of things he said to Edgey while they were talking at the hospital? XDD

Just got back from the College of Arts and Sciences graduation dinner, wherein good food was had and awards were presented. My parents and I struck up a conversation with a guy sitting at our table who was graduating in Economics and going on to law school. He mentioned that he'd wanted to be a lawyer since the eighth grade, and our table shared in a brief discussion on some of the finer points of the legal system. And of course, me being a dork, I was like ":D Yay~"

Oh, and I'm graduating summa cum laude. :D

One of the social sciences professors gave an address at the end that really made me think. Social justice, while being of course a worthy area, isn't quite my particular thing, but every once in a while there are words that just make you want to go out and change the world.

Heh, I stopped at Marycrest after my final this morning to get some food, where I used to eat every day freshman and sophomore year, and the two ladies who work there who always used to chat with me both recognized me. And I told them I was graduating, and they congratulated me and asked what my plans were. It's nice to be remembered, especially by people who you haven't seen in two years.

I am utterly convinced that playing Phoenix Wright has improved my score in my Higher Geometry class by a full letter grade or more. Seriously, it's exactly the same thing. Except that the games have interesting plots and characters, and it's hard to have interesting plots and characters in geometry unless you can make up little stories about the bold and daring line l intersecting orthogonally with the sweet and demure line m and producing cheerful and innocent little point X. Or something like that.

Really, though. In the PW games, you figure out how to put together the evidence that you have, using logic, to discover how a murder happened. In a geometric proof, you figure out how to put together what you're given, using theorems and postulates, to discover a geometric characteristic. It's the same process, and I can only do the proofs successfully when I keep in mind that it's the same process.

Take this problem, for example. I just finished my Higher Geometry final, and there was one proof on there that I literally stared at for a half an hour before I finally got myself on the right track. At first I wanted to do the proof using congruent triangles, but realized the triangles weren't congruent; then I wanted to use similar triangles, but I didn't have enough evidence to prove the triangles similar; then I wanted to extend the triangle into a larger triangle and use Ceva's Theorem, but I didn't have enough evidence for that either. Then instead of thinking about the problem, I started thinking about the givens, and I thought, "Well, almost all of the evidence givens that I have are related to angle bisectors. I wonder if I should use the Angle Bisector Theorem to solve this." And bam, the proof fell out of my head onto the page.

That was amazing. I am proud of myself.

Also, a note to self for later: I want a tablet.

I love playing as Edgeworth. The way he just... draws things out of people. Asks the right questions and sort of nudges people into telling him about what he wants to know. Phoenix does the same thing, he's just not as... subtle about it. Or as masterful. <3

Also think it's cute whenever he says "Psycholocks". XD And how he steadfastly refuses to acknowledge the existence of the very magic he's using. And how he keeps randomly worrying about Maya, and thinking about Phoenix. And how Gumshoe keeps following him around like a little lost puppy. XDD

(...Offhandedly, assume minor spoilers for 3-5. Probably safe to assume that for my next few posts, too.)

I wonder if Godot really isn't going to be prosecuting this case. If not, I hope it's Franziska. I want to see her again. <3 It makes sense, too; if Miles is really "pulling strings" to make sure that no one on the case will make a fuss about his playing defense, Franziska would be a good choice for prosecution. It'd be pretty awesome to see those two face off.

I already have a theory as to who the murder is, and as to Elise's true identity. I hope I'm wrong on both counts, though. :( If Elise is dead, then I don't want her to be who I think she is, and I really don't want my suspect to be the murderer. I still like him. D:

So today I went to my last Mass at Holy Angels; after I move, I'll be too far away to go there every Sunday. And anyway, I think I'm going to start going to the parish that my aunts and uncle belong to.

But there was a First Communion this morning, with nine kids, and they were just adorable. Brought back some memories. I really do like that church, though; it's a beautiful building, and the musicians are great, and the pastor is one of those who knows the name of almost every member of the parish.

Just finished up 3-4; that was a little... shocking. And of course my reaction to the recurring evidence at the end was something of an "OMG!!1" Diego is still awesome, though. <3 Looking forward to finding out more about him in 3-5, which I'm just starting, with high expectations.

Have been largely doing nothing for the past few days, which has been wonderfully restful. I'm beginning to feel like I'm ready to take on the world now, which is good, because I'm going to need it. I'm not quite sure where this is coming from, but I'm grateful all the same.

I'm teaching myself to make Winamp skins. :D My first one features Phoenix and Miles; it's very pink. Much pinker than I expected it to be when I started. But I like it; it looks very professional, so far. I've still got to finish the playlist and make a few final adjustments.

But finally, a useful outlet for those buildups of creativity that I get every once in a while. o_o I think I have a creativity holding chamber in my brain; every time I see a nice piece of art or have an interesting art-related idea, another bit of creativity gets added to the chamber, and when it gets full I have to do something creative to let some of it out and make more room. >_> Which is frustrating, because while I can do a number of creative things, I'm not really good enough at any of them to submit my works for critical appraisal, and I find it rather pointless to create things that I don't think are good enough to show off. But now, if I can learn to make good Winamp skins, I finally have something I can do that's both art-related and good. <3
